It resolves each bill into one clean, structured record (account, meter, period, usage, demand, every charge line, taxes and riders), then validates the charges against the tariff and against the account's own history before the bill is paid or reported.

Capture
Bills arrive by upload, email forwarding, bulk import or portal collection. PDF, image and scanned documents are all handled.
Read
Every field is resolved in context: account and meter identifiers, billing period, consumption and demand by meter, each charge line, taxes, adjustments and totals. New layouts do not need a template.
Validate
Charges are recalculated from the published tariff and compared to what was billed. Cross-field checks confirm totals, periods, units and multipliers. Usage is compared to the account's history and to interval data where available.
Flag and route
Exceptions (rate class, demand and ratchet, estimated reads, duplicate bills, unexpected riders) are flagged with the reason. Clean bills flow to AP, the ERP, the energy platform or a data warehouse.

What does tariff validation check?
The billed charges are recalculated from the applicable rate schedule and compared to the invoice: energy and delivery rates, demand charges and ratchet clauses, time-of-use periods, power factor adjustments, riders, taxes and the arithmetic between them.
