Collection and onboarding

Green Button and utility data collection at scale

Customers and sites onboard themselves. Green Button authorizations, interval feeds and bill uploads are normalized into one program-ready dataset.

  • Energy program administrators
  • Energy service and consulting firms
  • Property managers and multi-site operators
  • Utilities and retailers running customer programs

The problem this solves

Programs stall on data collection. Participants need to find bills, download portal files or authorize data sharing, and every utility does it differently. The result is incomplete datasets, months of follow-up and analysis that starts late.

MartinAI provides self-serve collection: participants authorize Green Button Connect My Data where it is offered, download and upload their own files where it is not, or forward bills. Everything is validated and normalized into one dataset your program, audit or analysis can use immediately.

How it works

01

Invite

Participants receive a branded signup link. Self-signup portals support single sites and portfolios, with bilingual pages.

02

Authorize or upload

Green Button Connect My Data authorization where the utility supports it, Download My Data files, bulk bill upload, or email forwarding of PDF bills.

03

Normalize and validate

Interval, monthly and bill data land in one schema with units, periods and meters reconciled. Gaps, overlaps and outliers are flagged.

04

Deliver

Program-ready data by API, file or dashboard, with ongoing refresh where authorization allows, so the dataset stays current after onboarding.

Capabilities

Green Button, both flavors

Download My Data files and Connect My Data authorizations, parsed and reconciled to meters and periods.

Interval and monthly together

Fifteen-minute or hourly interval data alongside monthly bills, so demand and usage can be analyzed against cost.

Bill upload and forwarding

Participants without data access can upload or forward bills; the same reading and validation applies.

Program-scale onboarding

Hundreds or thousands of participants with progress tracking, reminders and completeness reporting.

Consent and privacy

Authorization scope, expiry and revocation are recorded; data access follows what the participant granted.

Delivery options

API, scheduled files, warehouse loads or dashboards, in the schema your analysis tools expect.

Who uses it

Frequently asked questions

What is Green Button?

Green Button is a standard format for sharing energy usage data. Download My Data lets a customer export a file from the utility portal; Connect My Data lets the customer authorize a third party to receive the data automatically on an ongoing basis. In Ontario, regulated electricity and gas utilities are required to offer it. Availability elsewhere varies by utility.

What if a utility does not offer Green Button?

Participants can upload portal downloads, forward bills or bulk-upload files. The bills are read and validated the same way, so the dataset is complete even where automated data sharing is not available.

Can this run under our program's brand?

Yes. Signup portals are branded for the program and can present bilingual pages. Participants see the program, not a third-party tool, and consent language reflects the program's terms.

How is participant data protected?

Data is collected only under the authorization the participant grants, with scope and expiry recorded and revocation honored. Access is role-based, and every dataset delivery is logged.

How do we start a collection program?

Book a demo. We review the participant journey for your program, confirm which utilities support automated data sharing in your territory, and set up the portal, validation rules and delivery format.
